Although the second largest municipality in the world (it used to be the largest, but that Aussies made one bigger!), Kiruna is pretty small by our standards, a mere town with around 20,000 inhabitants.
We wandered aimlessly around for an hour or so before going to Jukkäsjarvi and checking into the Ice Hotel. As towns go, this is pretty good, with a most welcoming bunch of locals and a very friendly set of shopkeepers who didn't mind showing their wares, knowing that we probably weren't going to buy anything!
This is where I bought most of my dried Reindeer meat (yummy), from Thorneus Reindeer Supplies, recommended by Taisto Thorneus who runs the Lapland Wilderness Tour Company - any relation I wonder? :-)
